Nassau punishers 20
westchester packers 00

The theme coming into this week was to just be prepared and everyone be ready. The Punishers visited the Westchester Packers for a brawl on Sunday afternoon. It seemed like in this fight though only one team was punching as the Punishers "Black Eye" defense continued its dominance over the BNEFF. The defense came out and played quite effectively even with some of the "starters" on the sideline serving a one quarter suspension for missing practice. Those who stepped in there place simply played hard and showed that the Punishers defense is a team defense and a true team concept. The defensive line controlled the game as the Packers were never able to mass a single running play over 7 yards and most likely finished the game in the negative running the ball. The Packers offensive scheme didnt fool the defensive backs either as they continued to keep the air clear as there were no big plays made. Even with the addition for BNEFF MVP Rashid Darrisaw, the Punishers simply punished the Packer offense all day.

The Punishers on offense came out early in the game to establish the run with there numerous types of running backs. "I have so many backs! Every time I look I can just grab a guy and put him in an not worry about the running missing a beat." said Coach Jim. The story of the game is the offensive line who were sick of hearing they cant run block and they came out to show that they can and they did as the Punishers running game amassed over 125 yards in rushing and a touchdown. The true testament of the offensive line's brilliance was the massive 2nd quarter drive that went 17 plays for over 8 minutes and ended with a 2 yard touchdown by new tailback Jerry Edwards. The unsung hero's are the quarterbacks who both played brilliantly though in the first half the running game was so dominant, we rarely through. When we did have to run Steve Newman did a great job at moving the team up field. A few drops hurt his numbers but his confidence builds in Coach Jim's offense each week. In the second half the play action was key as the QB Quinton Dupree was able to hit Mr. Touchdown "Kelvin Lett" for two strikes to seal the game and rip the heart out of the Packers and there fans.

The Punishers now stand with 2 shutouts in two weeks in the BNEFF! They are primed for there showdown against the New England Knights who have won national championships at this level. "That game will show us where we really are. Our defensive line is the heart of our team and our Offensive line is our soul." said Coach Jim. The Punishers are looking forward the challenge as we all know the BNEFF will be watching and watching closely! SHOWDOWN IN 6 DAYS!
