Cold and To Close For Comfort

Nassau County , on sun The Punishers took on The Nj Longhorns , Being led by there M.V.P. candidate Quinton Dupree and the darkside defense . The game had all the thrills chills and bonecrushing big hit by both teams ! The 9Th wonder of the world and his tag team partner The silent assassin Alex Azure were ready willing and very very able to carry the team . The game started of slow both teams going 3 and out on there first few drives but it was the longhorns being able in the 1st half to get within scoring range and twice the wind and field conditions in the Black hole that's why we play the regular season for the this advantage said President Tyrone beatty . the 1st half ended with no scores by either team the defences were ready and proving why they were ranked 1 and 2 in the empire conference .The Nassau Punishers finished the BNEFF regular season at 10-0 and won the first seed in the Empire Conference. Someone must have forgot to tell the 5Th seeded NJ Longhorns that. Fresh off a win against the 4th seed NE Knights the Longhorns entered the Black hole with a game plan that they executed to damn near perfection as there defense dominated the Punishers offense all day. The offense couldn't get going as they only managed 2 first downs in the game and well under 70 yards total. The cold weather and crappy field conditions played a major factor. The good thing about that is the Punishers defense as usual was well up for the task as they bent but didn't break all day and made sure the Punishers stayed in the game.the Punishers like much of the game came out flat after the half with a quick 3 and out and Longhorns came down the field once again and got into field goal range as the quarterback continued to deliver darts to his receivers. There kicker pulled it right yet again and missed his second field goal of the day. "They moved the ball on us to well. Showed some glaring weaknesses in our defense." said a Punisher. But if you put the ball up to much eventually the other team will get a chance to make a play and safety and savior Alex Arzu made a great play on a pass and returned it 60 yards and add a 15 yard personal foul penalty and the Punishers offense was in business. The offense tried to runs of tackle and gained no yards and then QB Quinton Dupree takes the snap on 4th down falls down and gets up scrambles for a good 5 seconds and finds TE Dennis Levinson in the corner of the end zone, kicker BOOTZ added the extra point and with under 3 minutes left in the game the Punishers were in business or so they thought. The Punishers covered the kick well and the defense came on to the field fired up. They played great on the first two downs but on third and long they gave up a big 40+ pass play on the left side of the field and put the Longhorns in good position. The Punisher once again came out and played defense on the first two downs but on third down Coach Jim called for a late switch and the player couldn't come over quick enough and they were able to connect with a touchdown pass in the corner of the end zone! The Punisher held there breath as they were unsure whether or not the Longhorns would go for the win or kick the extra point. The extra point was blocked by Grid Iron All Star Travis Jinks. With under a minute an a half left the Punishers only had to cover the on side kick an they would be in business. After an extremely well placed on side kick, it bounced right into the hands of Travis Jinks. QB Quinton Dupree took the knees and the game was over. This was the true essence of BNEFF play off football it doesn't matter where you finish but the play offs is a new season. The Longhorns gave the Punishers all they could handle in both games but the defense and heart of the Punishers out stood the Longhorn onslaught. The Punishers will take the win and understand that focus is needed to finish this thing strong, its going to be cold, its going to be wet, but its not going to stop the game! The Punishers take this win and are set to face the NJ Hawks the number 2 seed of the Empire as the final four in the league has been set! Hawks @ Punishers and Giants @ Eagles...... Only one team can hold up the trophy at the end!

Under the lights in harlem , Great way to finish a great season

Well with the season winding down and season awards soon to be handed out Quinton Dupree for M.V.P . he had a stellar season td's 15 3 int's passer rtng of 115 and was the true leader of the offense , the offense with q at the helm scored over 215 pts in the regular season and 324 for the the whole season.I watched him turn in one of the great leadership seasons of his career and am so proud of the decisions he has made this yr on and off the field ! Great job Q now if he can win 2 more games !

With the Punishers already with the Empire Conference rapped up, they headed to Harlem on Saturday night, to have a make up game with the NY Venom. The game was useless to the Punishers but it was a must that the Punishers continued there dominance and finish strong. The defense came out in its normal fashion and shut the Venom out with a quick 3 and out! The punt was then botched by returned Javon Finch and placed the Venom inside the 10 yard line. The defense shut the Venom down and the offense came back out and on the first play from scrimmage RB Dennis Woody broke out for a nice 40+ yard run! The next play QB Quinton Dupree hit Jamaal Salah for one of his two touchdown catches on the evening. Without going to far into detail the offense was dominant scoring 5 times and winning by a whopping score of 35-0!

This game clinched the 10-0 season for the Punishers and the defense is the star of the regular season in the BNEFF only allowing 25 points in 10 games that is an average of less then a field goal a game. As the Punishers enter there second season its understood the defense and offense and special teams have to be on the same page to make it to the championship game! Only time will tell! Punishers have there first play off game at Roosevelt High School on Sunday, Dec 6 at 12:00 p.m. Opponent TBA!

A long drive for the punishers !!!!!!!!!!!!

Well this is what it's all about , this is for the division and the conference and home field throughout the playoffs The B.N.E.F.F #1 OFFENSE VS THE #1 IN THE NYC AREA ....

On a nice warm fall afternoon the Punishers travelled the 134 miles up to Poughkeepsie, NY to challenge the HV Cowboys. The battle for the Empire North was what it was touted to be. The Punishers vs Cowboys have had history in the past when the Ravens (old team name) faced off against the cowboys 3 other times in the past with the Ravens (Punishers) winning all 3 of those contest. The HV Cowboys came into the game with the best offense in the league yards wise and the Punishers defense was as stingy as they come allowing 17 points all season. Funny thing is 14 of those points were given up by the special teams units of the Punishers. No touchdowns had been allowed up til this game. The Punishers opted to go on defense first as the field conditions were horrible and the staff opted to put the Cowboys in the Clay baseball field that covered half the field to open the game. It worked to perfection as the high powered Cowboys offense struggled with there own field conditions. Both teams exchanged quick 3 and outs as both staffs began to feel each other out. On the second drive though for the Punishers it seemed bleak as safety/pr Alex Azure let a punt go over his head and leave the Punishers on there own 5 yard line. Quarterback Quinton Dupree then began to orchestrate a beautiful 95 yard drive that took up most of the quarter. The drive was filled with passes and runs and the Cowboys defense was off balance, the drive was capped with a 4 yard touchdown by Durrell Bradley! That was just the beginning of the scoring as the Punishers defense came out after that drive and had a quick 3 and out and the Punishers offense began to cut up the Cowboys defense yet again. After a hard 7 yard run by running back Jerry Edwards left he Punishers at 3 and inches, Quinton Dupree hit outstanding Punishers receiver Kelvin Lett for a 49 yard strike to give the Punishers a 15-0 lead after a successful 2 point conversion pass to RB Dennis Woody. The PUnishers defense continued to play great as the field became the Cowboys ultimate nemesis as there style of offense was greatly hindered by the wet and slippery conditions. The Cowboys threatened at the end of the half but the pass at the end of the half was picked off by Travis Jynx. In the second half the Punishers received the kick and due to a decent kick return from Travis Jynx were not left in the clay infield and were into the grass where the offense continued its dominance as the drive ended with a 9 yard touchdown pass to WR Jamaal Salah. The Cowboys offense came out and got a few first downs but a fumble by the running back gave the Punisher offense great field position yet again and yet again the Punishers QB Quinton Dupree led the team down and on 3rd and 6 hit H-back Rodney Myricks on a 24 yard td strike for his 3rd touchdown pass of the day. This gave the Punishers a whopping 28-0 lead into the mid 4th quarter. The Cowboys then came down and with the help of some bonehead Punisher penalties were able to score a touchdown to #1 Ragille Simms in the back of the end zone. Punishers defense had finally given up there first score of the season in week 10 of the season. The Punishers offense then ran the clock out and won the game and won the Empire North Division and Empire Conference championships!

"This game is a game of ups and downs. We have struggled in some games but always stuck together that's the difference in this team from teams in the past. Its good to see the success and I'm happy these guys are enjoying it. We play for the love, but now we are playing to be Champions." Said Captain Jamaal Salah.

National exposure Ranked among the top 50 in the country !

Well fans your very own Nassau punisher are ranked Nationally for the 1st time
#46 nationally in the http://www.minorleaguefootballnews.com in the summer fall rankings ,and 16th in the semiprobcs.com ,November rankings all in all it's a
great honor to have your team mentioned with the elite of the country !!!!!!

and now to this weeks game and it was an ambush punishers vs the Brooklyn storm

punishers 54
storm 00

When your the better team you have to prove it from the first snap. After a 45 minute wait for officials to arrive the Punishers in there all black, showed the Storm they were not on the same level as them. The Punishers defense only allowed 2 first downs the entire game and they themselves outscored the Storm as they scored 3 touchdowns. Defensive end Shawn McLain had his second td on a scoop and score in the end zone after a caused fumble by Pop English, Pop English then had his own scoop and score after DE/OLB Brad McKoy caused havoc in the backfield and caused a fumble and then on the next drive FS/OLB Mitchell "All" Green intercepted a pass and returned it for the school at that point the officials had seen enough and said THATS THE GAME! Oh the Punishers offense did play as well but rarely saw the field as they continuosly had great field position because the Storm would not or could not punt. The turnovers by the Storm also left the Punishers in great field position. The combination of Quarterback Q and Mr. TD, Kelvin Lett, continue to throw up big numbers as Lett was hit on a 73 yard bomb for his 7th TD of the season. The big time star this week was TE Dennis Levinson who had 3 catches and a TD this week. "He has been begging me to get involved but we arent really a TE passing team, but this week he was open and Q found him. Maybe this will build Q confindence in him and down the stretch he will be more involved."said Coach Jim. Jerry Edwards scored two touchdowns as well but the field was horrible so he took himself out due to a sore hamstring. "I know Coach needs me more next week, no need me to risk possible injury on this bad field and my team got this one in the bag anyways." said rookie RB Jerry Edwards. Blocking machine Rason Burnett also got thrown a bone as Quarterback Q checked coach Jims play and allowed him to take the dive into the end zone!

Punishers are headed to Hudson Valley to face the 2nd place Hudson Valley Cowboys. This will be a showdown of the Cowboys explosive offense who have scored 207 points vs the Punishers defense who have only allowed 3 points against them. Though the score may say 17 14 points have been given up by special teams on a botched punt return and a kick off return for a touchdown. This should be showdown and at 1pm on Sunday in Poughkeepsie the loser of this game falls to third place. Punishers win this game they clinch first place and home field throughout the play offs. Punishers lose they fall to 3rd place and road warriors for the play offs! A lot on the line Punishers can win the Empire North title and Empire Conference crown all in one game. This one as they say is for all the marbles!

and as you can see from the score they have a lot of work to do , but the punishers defense pitched it's 8th shutout of the season and has given up 25 pts in the regular season and 54 pts total starting in march up to now ! coach Dave said "when we started this team in jan i felt we could do something great the way myself Jim and Marv set it up along with the pres. and shorter we set out to look for the best of the best and some off season pickups and free agent signings lead to not a good defense but great " i will take my guys against any team in the country ..... The hard work of the punisher players and coaches is really starting to pay off and the run for the ring starts in 3 weeks and a win in Hudson valley next week will give the punishers home field throughout the playoffs !!!!!!!!!!

Road Trip To Newark ?

Road Trip to Newark , after a long 2 hr drive being stuck in traffic on a cold sun afternoon light in players , by all accounts the punishers top defensive weapon dt Thomas grubbs ,lb/de brad McCoy , lb and bash brother tyrell Wilson , ss pat Eustace , and mlb Todd Jackson that's 5 off the Bneff top rated defense , not to mention one of our best offensive weapon Wr Corey lett #25 showed up in the second quarter ! taking all the factors in and tell me we win by 4 and i will tell you i will take it , and we did ! Newcomer and rookie Mlb#1 Travis Jones was huge he had 9 tackles and seemed to be the only lb that could run with the scrambling qb #3 from the longhorns he is a different animal big and strong and managed to elude the d linemen all day but Travis was huge spying him and laying huge hit after hit on him !
but the d-line did a great job of flushing him and just could not wrap up to bring him down , also there were a few missed calls by the officials not to mention when we arrived for the game one of the officials got out of a car with the long horn players ! never seen that before ......but back to the game a great game it was the NJ Longhorns a well balanced and coached team. The Longhorns came out and drove the field quite well on there opening drive taking the ball inside the 10 yard line but were only to tack on a field goal the first points surrendered by the Punishers defense all season. The Punishers offense was stagnant and couldn't find there rhythm, a fumble and a interception were the bad highlights of the first half as the car ride to Newark seemed to be riding with them on the field in the first half as the offense never got a single first down. The Punisher defense did rise to the task in the first half as they Longhorns offense continued to execute and give Coach Dave and his defense fits, the defense made great plays all game but the standout of the game was Travis Jones who led the team with 9 tackles and 2 sacks. His play was huge as he seemed to be the only one who could break down and tackle the Longhorns shifty quarterback. When the half ended it was 3-0 with the Longhorns in full control of the game as the Punishers defense took every punch and returned one of there own.

With an hour long half time due to the lights timer not being change to day light savings time, both teams should have come out a little stiff but that wasn't the case. The Punishers RB Jerry Edwards took a 96 yard kick return to the house giving the Punishers a very short lived lead as on the next kick off it was returned for a 80 yard return for the Longhorns. On the ensuing drive though Coach Jim and QB Quinton Dupree settled the troops and decided to put the work on the back of the offensive line who worked brilliantly in the second half as the line executed well and helped a 81 yard drive end i 11 yard touchdown toss to Jamal Salah in the back of the end zone. "Q was a lil out of it today. I had that feeling riding in as he slept in the car. I take the teams sluggish play on my shoulders as my sickness all week and inability to practice didn't have the troops really ready." said Coach Jim. The defense continued to hold it down and even though the Longhorns gave a scare at the end of the game as they drove to the 11 yard line. No timeouts turned out to be what killed them as they through there last great effort into the end zone that fell incomplete. At the end of the game Coach Jim had this to say: This game is played for the love and today my guys loved it and each other as no one ever held there head down. The Longhorns are a great team and we have a feeling in one of these play off rounds they will be right there again. Its good to have a good clean game and not worry about the bull. They had outstanding coaching and were well prepared for what we do and though we got out of Newark with the win, it was another test to the heart of this team. Heart of this team is strong and when your united like this team is, I don't see who can stop a train moving full speed!

Punishers will next face the Boyz from Brooklyn, the BK Storm at Marine Park in Brooklyn, New York Sunday at 2pm! Remember hard work pays!

And now there is 1 !

Congrats to all the long island Teams on great season's And Good Luck in the 1st winter Classic Being Brought to you by the Grid Iron Elite .......

In What was billed as the battle of the undeafeated the Nassau Punishers took on the undefeated bergen hawks ........And did this game lived up to the billing The weather didnt agree with the Punishers this weekend as the admin had to make a crucial decision whether or not to risk bad weather or moving the game to Jersey. The decision made by President Tyrone Beatty and GM Kaheen Shorter was the right one as they opted to move the game to Jersey to insure the game plays! It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Palisades Park, NJ and the tone was set. From the moment the Punishers entered the field they felt the football gods staring down on them. As they warmed up they heard the screeches of Hawks over the loud speaker but those of us from the old school took those screaches as those of Ravens and took that into the game as momentum as the Hawks entered there home stadium pumped and ready to go. From the opening kick the game was intense with the Hawks and the pressure was on! The Hawks defense was stout and ready for the challenge of the Punishers offense but the offensive line missing, veteran Willie Saunders, outstanding Rookie Mike Graham, and Tight End Chris Robinson the cards seemed to be stacked against Coach Jim and his running backs. Rookie Jerry Edwards an quarterback Quinton Dupree are working well together as Jerry has stepped into the feature back role quite well. False starts and bad snaps kept the Punisher offense from fully being as good as it could have been but the game plan worked to perfection in the second half as quarterback Dupree was able to hit #21 Kelvin Lett on a bomb that brought them to the 12 yard line and and after a short run, QB found Jamaal Salah in the back of the end zone for his second touchdown in two games. "We struggled on offense a little, but our quarterback is our leader and he didnt get down on his teammates, every week we try to get better. We only managed 7 points this week but we will fix some of the things we did wrong and hopefully get back on track next week!" said Jim.

Now the defense played yet another great game not allowing a touchdown as the only touchdown relinquished was by a muffed punt due to bad communication. A new guy stood out this week as #1- Travis Jones stepped up and made big plays in the middle, along with fellow Freeport Alum Thomas Grubbs. The defense was on the field longer this game then any other as the Hawks had a great game plan. The defense bent but did not break. The game was won on a fumble recovery and touchdown run by Thomas Grubbs who continues to wreck havoc in the BNEFF. Kyle Anderson on the next drive came in untouched and nearly took the hand off from the quarterback that led to a game winning turnover as the Punishers ran out the clock from there.

The Punishers are now in the teeth of there schedule with the Longhorns and Cowboys soon approaching its going to be a battle to the finish. Right now they sit a top of the BNEFF Empire Conference with a magnificent 6-0 record. If they finish strong this season off with no losses they will hold the key to there championship aspirations as the entire Empire Conference Play Off would roll through the Island. Unfortunatley, the Punishers once again have become road warriors as they will finish the remainder of the season on the road. Due to there league change they were unable to secure there field for every game and this weeks game will be played back at Lombardi Field in NJ! The play off field has been locked in though and as long as they finish strong the most important games left will be played on the Island!

punishers 6-0 and travel back to jersey next week !

Playoffs start and end quickly for all the long island teams !!!

1st and foremost let me say congrats to all long island's football teams we have had our differences in the past but congrats to Khalid , and ray , Matt shrek , you guys stood up in a great fashion for all long island to have 3 playoff teams from the same division ! also to the Esdk great season for long island !

The Tribe(Rafl)division champs 8-2 9-4
The Panthers 7-3 8-8
The Esdk 6-4 10-10
The Lions 3-7 3-10

In the past some in the semi-pro or minor league wprld have criticized long island for having no good teams ! as you can see from the standings we have made a statement . And now to the games !

Esdk 7
Nj Buccs 28

Esdk got bush wacked in this one from all accounts it was not as close as some would like to portray ! this one nj ran and threw all over the field and the d held esdk to 1 score and in the playoffs you need to score to win the game ! esdk drew 1st blood a great throw to #11 divine jackson ended in the end zone that was all the the scoring for the 1st half but there are 2 half's in football ! as you can see from the score the 2nd half was all nj congrats to esdk on a good season hopefully they will enter a post season tourny but we know we will see them during the Grid Iron Elite tourny !

Panthers 12
Ny preds 16

In what was a hotly contested defensive battle NY; The New York Predator defeated the gritty Long Island Panthers in the first round of the playoffs to advance to the second round of the playoffs. The Predators toughed this one out thanks to an excellent ground game of 200 plus yards and a hard nosed defensive play that caused 5 Int's. Tim Kelson 1Td, Daquan Williams, and Andrew Golden 1Td along with Geoff Wolynic's 42 yard TD did the damage on the offense. On the defensive front Anthony Polizzi, David Palmer, Damian McCaig, Constance Richardson helped stuff the potent run game of the Panthers and Antoine Earle picked up 3Int's.Well all i can is its was a great season for the panthers to finish the preseason and spring tourny with no wins and then to rally to finish the yr at .500 took a lot of grit and determination my hats off to the panthers ! thanks to the nypreds for the help on this one .

G.O.T.W

Tribe 10
Nj Wolves 29

coming into this game the tribe boasted the number 5 ranked defense in the league ! and they were home for this one . this season has been a great one for the tribe and khalid merrit the new oc ! And maybe just maybe they were gonna make a huge playoff run . But on this day it was not meant to be ! The game was never in doubt, with the score 17 to 3 Wolves at the half. The Wolves defense played strong creating turnovers and keeping the Tribe in their end of the field. The 3rd quarter open with Tribe getting on the board making the score 17 to 10 Wolves. On ensueing kick-off Wolves' Darnell Rose returned the kick-off for 100 yards and a TD. The Wolves after a deep punt in the 4th quarter by the Tribe, placing the ball on the Wolves' 5 yard line, drove 95 yards down the field for the score. Darrell kennedy, grinning out 70 of those yards, scoring from 6 yards out. again great season for the tribe and hats off to you on a great run !

punisher 31
ny broncos 00

The New York State Broncos have been playing well thus far this season and been in almost every game they have played this season. Though this season and last season they have yet to find there way to the win column. So Unfortunately for them they were playing the Nassau Punishers this week who have found a dominant swagger on both sides of the ball. The game was not only dominated by defense but offense and special teams as well. The Broncos lost there quarterback the first snap of the game as he was rushed and piled drives to the ground by a Punisher defender. Pressure was constant on the quarterback all day as the Broncos never found there groove offensively and the Broncos defense stayed on the field most of the first half due to great special teams play by the Punishers. The Punishers defense was all over the Broncos defenders all day to the point where in the 4th quarter the Broncos caught a break after a good pass to the middle of the field, a late hit on the Quarterback gave the Broncos the ball inside the 10 yard line. This was the first team this season to venture inside the 10 yard line against the Punishers defense. The defense buckled down as Pop English (#92) made a huge play and caused a fumble that was recovered by DT/NG Thomas Grubbs who one again led the team in tackles. The defensive lines pressure was the true key to the win. The secondary finally saw some action as DB Jermaine Wilson knocked down 4 passes as they went after him all day long. A loss to Travis Jynx in the second quarter wasnt even costly. "When Travis got a lil nicked up it was a concern but there are bigger fish to fry so he and I thought it was best to let him sit out!" said Jim. The defense played brilliantly with great plays all day and though no real big plays or big hits were recorded, they still have yet to allow a touchdown this season. Five games and 5 shut outs! I don't care what people say about the competition, even the worse teams sometimes score on the best.

The offense came out ablaze! Quarterback had it going from the first series as his leadership continues to be the true drive behind what the Punishers are accomplishing. We thought we had something early in the pre-season with another quarterback and we thought that we were truly strong at that position but what Quinton brings to the team isn't just his heady offensive plays but also his commitment to the team. We have had great guys who can throw it around a lot but no one who can lead the team and be the coach on the field, Quinton is that."I have been around Quinton since he played for my uncle Carl Simpson many years ago. I saw him play varsity and he went off to college. He was the quarterback a few years ago but got injured and was out, this year he is halfway healthy and a team player. He gives us the best chance to win. He doesn't stand with the captain but he is the Leader of this team." says Coach Jim. The offense did a great job executing as Kelvin Lett found his way back into the end zone as he led the team with 2 catches for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns, finally, finally, finally, Jamal Salah the teams leading receiver finally caught a touchdown pass. The play of the day was the brilliant 66 yard catch and run by H-back Rodney Myricks who has brought a dimension to the offense that it has lacked! Kicker Craig Pinto finished the scoring off with a 37 yard field goal that went straight through the uprights. Craig "AKA BOOTZ" has been the final piece to the puzzle. Other notables on offense were rookie rb Jerry Edwards with 7 carries for 86 yards and had he been the featured back this week he would have well over 100 yards!

The coaching staff has done a great job and more importantly the team has stayed a team and though there are a few bad apples these problems are quickly being dealt with. Punishers face the NY Venom this Saturday night in Harlem and hopefully the dominance will continue! The Punishers are taking the BNEFF by force! Wont give us respect then we will take it! And the punishers set a Bneff record with there 5 straight shutout and for some to say ohh the competition is not as good look around the nyc and show me other teams that beat the teams they ar supposed to beat and beat 4 playoff contestants from last yr in there league !

Week 11 and they come out swinging !

And as they close out there regular season with some very good football being played on long island of the RAFL all the teams are finishing strong ! And with the playoffs a week away the final regular season rankings for the long island teams !

Nassau punishers (Bneff) 4-0 8-1 198-29
Long island Tribe(RaFL) 8-2 9-3 195-97
Panthers (Rafl) 7-3 8-7 244-239
Esdk (Rafl) 6-4 10-9 313-353
Lions (Rafl) 3-7 3-10 136-252

And right now the Rafl will be starting there playoffs, the tribe are a six seed and get a home game , the panthers and esdk have to travel but lets get back to the weekends games !

lions vs the blackhawks - The lions came out and showed a lot of heart early ,
The Lions close out their season with a bang by beating the Kings County Blackhawks 27-0. Byron "B-RON" Eason opened up the scoring by doing what B-Ron do and that is making people miss and look down right silly on a 14 yard TD run (XP Failed). Anthony "FLOYD" Centrella finally had a moment to shine and caught a picture perfect pass from Eddie Dixon for the 12 yard strike (Bonacorsa to Myrick for 2 points). On the Lions next possession Steve Leach ran off tackle for a 7 yard TD run (Bonacorsa kick). Early in the 4th quarter the D-Line who was in their backfield all day got extreme pressure and forced 2 interceptions both by Tyrone "SPEEDY" Sandford. On Speedy's 2 nd pick he ran it 63 yards to the house (XP failed). The Offensive line of (Gearrino, Martuscello, Miller, Hartgrove, Caballero) played stellar giving the QB time and the running backs holes all game long. The Defense played with fire and intensity for what seemed like 8-3 & out series. way to finish lions !

panthers travel to the bison and pull out a thriller 20-18 , and the running game came up big again for the panthers this kid #5 is a beast and he is hitting his stride at the right time with the playoffs looming the panthers needed a win to secure a spot and got it ! they have to feel great with the way the season ended ! they were picked to finish dead last and showed some big heart to comeback and finish with 3 straight victories and a 11 seed in the playoffs congrats to ray the hc but now it only gets tougher . hopefully the d can continue to be stout good luck come playoff time !

Esdk - bye

nassau punishers vs middlesex vikings Offense finally wakes up!

For weeks now it has always been the story of the dominant defense of the Nassau Punishers. This week it was a little different as the offense led by starting QB Quinton Dupree (2nd Start) finally got into gear. The offense was led by rookie running back Jerry Edwards with another stout game with six carries for over 50 yards an a touchdown. His numbers may not jump out at you but he was serving a suspension for conduct detrimental to the team in the first half, had he played the entire game an took his normal starter reps he would have exploded for over 100yards. The true heart of the offense wears number 7 our Quaterback Quinton Dupree. "Q has been a little banged up so I have been so tentative with my play calling. The talk about us not having any offense got to me for two weeks so we decided to just open it up and let it rip. " said Coach Jim. This change of philosophy led to Q throwing for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns in only one half as he was sat down to allow Mike Lecesse to come in and lead the team. Old faithful receiver Jamaal Salah led the team AGAIN in receptions but has yet to touch the end zone this season but his counterpart Kelvin Lett found his way into the end zone yet again on a beautifully thrown ball for a 80 yard strike. The second half the offense sputtered as Mike in his first game back struggled to find his rhythm. "For years Mike was the starter but Q is here now and gives up leadership and commitment. We need both guys and we know that Mike will get his wings underneath him and do what he has to do for this team." Said WR Jamaal Salah. We cant end this offensive conversation without mentioning the 3 yard touchdown pass to TE Chris Robinson, the first ever touchdown to a tight end in the history of this organization either as the Ravens and/or Punishers. Congrats to Chris as he continues to excel in blocking and pass catching! The biggest addition to the offense was the return of kicker Craig Pinto who not only made 2-3 extra points and 1-2 field goals, he nailed a 42 yarder and also executed a on side kick to perfection that H-back Rodney Myricks recovered. He has been welcomed back to the team with open arms and has put a fix on the weakest part of the Punishers armor.

Now to the Darkside, skull crushing defense what can I really say. The game has become so intense for LB Kyle Anderson and Tyrell Wilson, they have begun to compete with one another on the field. The intensity they bring filters throughout the defense as players like Keith Cole and Thomas Grubbs feed off it and feast on opposing teams offensive lines. The defense was great again causing five turnovers and one turnover returned for a touchdown by CB/Captain Jermaine Wilson. The defense was led by Thomas Grubbs with 6 tackles with Kyle Anderson with 6 tackles 1 Sack 1 forced fumble. The defensive coaches have done an outstanding job at keeping the end zone touchdown free. "It gets boring out there sometimes. We get no action in the secondary." Said Troy. He is right because the Vikings were 3 and out a lot yesterday with there only decent drive at the end of the first half that ended with a interception in the end zone by S/CB Alex Azure. The defense is the best in the BNEFF and though stats against the defense seem a little suspect there has yet to be a touchdown given up by the Bonecrushing Punisher Darkside defense. Broncos are next at Roosevelt High at 1pm! This is our annual homecoming game we play in the first place that opened there arms to us. You can never get to where you want to go if you don't remember where you came from

Week 10 gets 4 shutouts !

Tribe 31
stallions 00

what more can i say this tribe team is hungry and they traveled well ! the d is looking in playoff form and the o is focused ! the other big dogs in the rafl better watch out as Esdk learned this is not the tribe team of old they can play ! and they play hard !

panthers 14
phila mustangs 00

Another one bites the dust the panthers running game may be able to carry them to a great playoff run ! As long as the d is pitching shutouts they have a chance against any team in the rafl and with this new found attitude they a riding high

Esdk 22
seahawks 00

And the esdk are trying to show they can compete come playoff time they get the 16th seed and get the #1 team in the league and an early exit but like lotto you have to be in it to win it kudos to them for just making the playoffs !

Nassau Punishers 06

12 Rounds and the defense still is strong!

We have always had a good defense but I think now the Punishers have a great defense. After 12 quarters of football and 180 minutes, the defense hasn't given up a point! A SINGLE POINT and they have played perhaps 3 of the top 10 teams in the league. The defense is the story of this season with the revitalized running game being a close second. The defense on Saturday night was outstanding again holding the Knights out of the endzone and didn't give up to much. The one good play of the game was a skinny post that went for big yards but besides that the Knights offense was non existent and the only yards the defense really gave up were the yards the Punishers gave them on penalties. The Knights had good field position several times but big time plays by Thomas Grubbs and Kyle Anderson kept them at bay and out of field goal position. The darkside has added players like Thomas Grubbs, Johnny Moinz, Patrick Eustache, Salah Wali, Brad McKoy who have come in and filled big time roles. Some can be starters on other teams but come in and fit into the team concept of Coach Daves defense. The Knights defense was stellar as well. The lone touchdown coming on a 19 yard run from quarterback Quinton Dupree. Quinton led the team well making big throws and the right decisions throughout the entire game. His numbers wont jump out at you but his leadership is huge. With him being the quarterback the entire game he new he had a huge burden on his shoulders but through his college experience he was able to lead the team. The running game was strong again as Jerry Edwards led the team with 12 carries and 53 yards. With veterans Levon Mosley and Durell Bradley pitching in big time. "We have to be successful in the red zone. We were inside the twenty a few times and came away with nothing. The Knights are a GREAT team and there defense gave us fits. We were able to make some plays on some downs and the plan was to grind and take what the defense would give us." said Coach Jim. The Punishers are much like the Baltimore Ravens who won the Super Bowl. Great defense with and offense that just got it done. The Punishers are fine with that and we model our self after that team. The Punishers don't have the 30 point offense every week. We just come out and play hard nose football. Middlesex Vikings are up next and once again Another playoff team from last season!

week 9 is in the books !!!!!!!

The overall standings -

tribe 8-2 9-3 And they are better than most people think .
best team in this division

panthers 6-3 7-7 The way the season began and to fight back to 500. great
job ray !

Esdk 5-4 9-9 To much talk for a 500. team but made the playoffs !

Lions 2-7 2-10 1st yr team and fought hard all yr next
yr will be better

Punishers 2-0 7-1 I guess coach jim and comp. are back !

Tribe 35 vs lions 07 (Looking for some get back after that shutout loss)

The only Lions score of the day was a 27 yd pass from QB Eddie Dixon to WR Manny Depas (Bonacorsa Kick) in a 35-7 loss against their divisional opponent LI Tribe. The rest of the game the Tribe were dominant on both sides of the ball ! Seems to be business as usual for the tribe defence man they almost have as good a d as any in there league ! and with this win they have OFFICIALLY WON THE LONG ISLAND DIVISION IN THE R.A.F.L Great job by the tribe and matt and his staff !

Panthers 23 vs seahawks 06
And this game was dominated by the panthers running game they have a new back whos is tied for the lead in rushing yrds , after the way the season started 0-5 in the grid iron elite it did not look good for the panthers ! but they regrouped and got back to 500. overall and made the playoffs congrats to ray and his staff ! rafl better watch out any of the long island teams can win in the playoffs they are that good !

Esdk bye

Nassau punishers 20
westchester packers 00

The theme coming into this week was to just be prepared and everyone be ready. The Punishers visited the Westchester Packers for a brawl on Sunday afternoon. It seemed like in this fight though only one team was punching as the Punishers "Black Eye" defense continued its dominance over the BNEFF. The defense came out and played quite effectively even with some of the "starters" on the sideline serving a one quarter suspension for missing practice. Those who stepped in there place simply played hard and showed that the Punishers defense is a team defense and a true team concept. The defensive line controlled the game as the Packers were never able to mass a single running play over 7 yards and most likely finished the game in the negative running the ball. The Packers offensive scheme didnt fool the defensive backs either as they continued to keep the air clear as there were no big plays made. Even with the addition for BNEFF MVP Rashid Darrisaw, the Punishers simply punished the Packer offense all day.

The Punishers on offense came out early in the game to establish the run with there numerous types of running backs. "I have so many backs! Every time I look I can just grab a guy and put him in an not worry about the running missing a beat." said Coach Jim. The story of the game is the offensive line who were sick of hearing they cant run block and they came out to show that they can and they did as the Punishers running game amassed over 125 yards in rushing and a touchdown. The true testament of the offensive line's brilliance was the massive 2nd quarter drive that went 17 plays for over 8 minutes and ended with a 2 yard touchdown by new tailback Jerry Edwards. The unsung hero's are the quarterbacks who both played brilliantly though in the first half the running game was so dominant, we rarely through. When we did have to run Steve Newman did a great job at moving the team up field. A few drops hurt his numbers but his confidence builds in Coach Jim's offense each week. In the second half the play action was key as the QB Quinton Dupree was able to hit Mr. Touchdown "Kelvin Lett" for two strikes to seal the game and rip the heart out of the Packers and there fans.

The Punishers now stand with 2 shutouts in two weeks in the BNEFF! They are primed for there showdown against the New England Knights who have won national championships at this level. "That game will show us where we really are. Our defensive line is the heart of our team and our Offensive line is our soul." said Coach Jim. The Punishers are looking forward the challenge as we all know the BNEFF will be watching and watching closely! SHOWDOWN IN 6 DAYS!

The week to take control !

(long island current standings)
punishers 6-1
tribe 7-4
panthers 5-7
Esdk 8-9
lions 2-5

As you can see from the standings for the punishers there really is no reason next season or pre season to play anyone but the tribe the 2 teams have never faced off, and it would be a great event long islands top 2 programs go head to head !

And now to the game's and sound the upset alarm , The long island lions do it again !

Lions 18
Tribe 00

Up against the #1 team in there division the LI Lions defense pitches its first shutout of the season rarely letting the tribe into the red-zone and LB # 9 Dexter McRae coming up with the one handed interception on the 10 yard line to stop the Tribes Best Scoring opportunity. The offense played hard all game with early scores by # 6 Stevie Leach(1 Rush TD) and # 3 Byron Eason(1 Rush TD). Late in the game with a 12-0 score QB # 16 Eddie Dixon(1 Passing TD) over came 3 early interceptions to throw a TD to TE # 85 Rodney MyRick(1 Rec TD) to put the game out of reach for the Tribe (THANKS TO THE LIONS FOR THIS WRITE UP) So now they have won 2 in row and seem to be finding there swagger and looking like the new coaching staff knows how to win a game or 2 and making themselves relevant on long island again , but here is a big test for them on the 12th ,they get to play the the #1 team in that division again this time in tribe country ! should be a great game as the tribe will want some get back for that loss it really hurt there seeding for the playoffs . but can they bounce back we will see if khalid can rally the troops the way he has all season !

Esdk 7
panthers 6

And to say these 2 teams hate each other would be an understatement when these 2 meet you can lock up the women and children because a war is gonna be had in between the white lines the game was all about the d and who's D would break 1st , to bad for the panthers there D broke ! And may have cost them a playoff birth ! for the Esdk they may have risen from the playoff depths and if they can win out and get a little help from the division may make the playoff its gonna be tough but hey on any given sun anything can happen , this game was filled with turnovers by both teams and that seemed to keep the games close both running games were non existent and that made it easy for esdk to focus on the pass , same goes for the panthers , but a side note props to all the li division teams this close to the end and still looking for a playoff birth is great !

PUNISHERS OPEN NEW FIELD WITH A WIN !!!

punishers 12
spartans 00

DARKSIDE GETS THE SHUTOUT - You can call it ugly , you can say that the punishers looked sloppy, say what you will but its a w ! in yrs past we would have folded in games like this nailbitters have been tough on us but i think this team has turned the corner ! The guys stuck together and brought home a victory led by De #99 (the freak)Shawn mcclean intercepted a shovel pass and rumbled 60 yrds for the score ! That opened up the scoring and the spartans were rocked and reeling thats how the 1st half ended 6-0 , the second half opened with the punishers getting the ball and from there 30 yrd Qb#11 Mike leccesse dropped a bomb to the sensational rookie kelvin lett #25 a 45 yrd strike and td and thats number 9 on the season and with 9 games left in the regular season he may get 15 which would be a rec for the new punishers the Darkside totaled 4 sacks and 3 picks great way to open the season !

The winds of change blow through lions camp !

In a stunning move the long island lions change coaching staff halfway through the season will this bold move pay off for them we shall see !

upset alert !!!!!!!!!

Long island lions 26
Esdk 20

To say the lions made a bold move is an understatement they changed oc and boy it has shown getting back to smash mouth football ! running and passing all day b-ron is using his legs again why this guy was on the bench is beyond me . but they get that 1st w of the season and may be on there way that is the toughest one to get as a new club , Esdk the season may be over they have to win out now to make the playoffs and have painted themselves in to a corner !

tribe 18
brklynbdvls 06

and they have done it again traveling to brooklyn to play one of the younger better teams in the bluedevils this game the d said no you can't have it ! jumped out early and the defense sealed the win , the d has arrived and boy oh boy they have taken control of the l.i. division many thought the class of the this division was the Esdk but the tribe beat them 2x and then the beat the panthers 2x so there is no one left they are crowned l.i. division champs and will be a top 6 seed for the playoff''s in the Rafl congrats to Khalid and his offense they have a division crown !

bye - panthers , punishers

ooh wheeee the talk has to stop

(current long island standings )

nassau punishers 5-1
longisland tribe 7-3
longisland panthers 5-7
Esdk 8-9
longisland lions 2-8

And to me if you are a punisher or a tribe's men you have earned the right to talk ! i mean you only have 2 teams with winning records that's why long island gets no respect outside long island ! You have to win a few games before you spout off at the mouth !

Esdk 06
brklyn bdogs 46

I have nothing to say regarding this game they layed a goose egg and may have lost the playoffs with this loss but it has been the story of there season , in big games they failed to show up !

tribe 27
panthers 06

tribe jumped out early and never looked back scoring at will and never giving in to the panthers running attack ! they are becoming known as a defensive team but the o was very good and balanced in this one and with the next win they may clinch the division title , and that would be an amzing feet for a team that only won 3 game last yr a good worst to 1st story !

bye - punishers , lions ,

As it stands right now ! and week 5 all in one

Power rankings the 1st one of the season ;

(overall rec preseason included)

Nassau Punishers 4-1 ; have played better competition than most teams in the pre season
(reg seasn kicks off aug 29th )
L.I. Tribe 6-2 ; very strong defense and good looking offense
L.I. Panthers 5-6 ; from imploding to exploding and have surpassed the Esdk this yr
Esdk 7-8 ; the wheels have fallen of the bus losing twice to the tribe
L. I. lions 0-8 ; the Detroit lions were worse ! very green coaching staff and it shows

WEEK 5 the halfway point !

UPSET SPECIAL
TRIBE 12
Esdk 09

in what was billed as the battle for 1st on the island the esdk layed an egg in the biggest game of the yr so far ! they had a chance to tie for 1st in the long island division of the (Rafl) and came out fired up ! but for all the pre game antics the hooting and hollering it did not work they were out coached and out hit by the tribe . the tribe moved the ball enough to win the field position battle and win the game coming in they had the 3 rd ranked d in pts allowed and 3 ranked passing game so we all thought ok they will win they had all the momentum and had just won 2 straight . well the tribe had other things in mind and they have turned the corner as a team and organization . they are playing hard and playing together and it is really paying of big for this young team ! they are hitting and running through the long island division and right now are the one true playoff team in that division . they have the best kicker in the league and field position is huge for them along with the ball control o and very aggressive defense and they are firing on all cylinder's . i expect huge things from this team from here on out !

Panthers 48
lions 28

and the mess that is the lions season continues the lone question is will they win a game ? the panthers running game prove to be to tough to the tune of 200 yrds rushing this #5 looks like the second coming of Reggie bush slashing and dashing all night ! the lions lack of a true coaching staff showed the never made an adjustment to the toss plays and the counter plays it is gonna be a long yr for them but they are showing heart and if they finish the yr with no forfeits it will build a solid foundation for next yr ! going through this is rough and they have to rally the troops around what they have and fight for everything that's the only way to turn it around ! the panthers are starting to look a little inconsistent with the win 1 lose 1 so with five games left its all magnified for the playoff push and it may take a little Vaseline to get in the playoffs but that's why we play the game !

Nassau punishers 41
CT. ravens 00

What a way to Cristen a new field with a shutout the d missing some guys showed out for the fans ! shyne , salahoudin , Dewhite Hines , and Travis Jones the lb for the punishers showed that they are ready to roll through any run game put before them the d scored 3 times , the special teams 2x and the offense has shown all preseason they can get going to ! averaging 27 pts a game for the 5 preseason games , the rcvrs are looking like the greatest show on turf kelvin lett 2 catches 1 td , Steve paras aka (the mexican ) 2 balls 1 td , and the run game is looking good running hard and finishing plays low rider rason Burnett is leading the way with bone crushing lead blocks and runs he is a good send said coach Jim ! still the kicking game is weak and we need Craig pinto badly . but all in all the preseason was better than in yrs passed the tam stuck together and the rookies showed why they can be trusted in the big spots . next up it all counts we get the young Spartans of the (bneef ) they were the league runner up last yr and are hungry for more but they may have bitten of a little more then they can chew this time ! but that's why we play the game ! the night before the game i will do a breakdown of the punishers up coming game
same bat time same bat channel !

Week 4 let the out of conference games begin

Esdk 12
seahawks 00

The esdk just were too much the score could have been much worse but they called of the dogs ! But esdk defense is getting better by the week second shuout of the season and they are getting better , the o is looking more consistent and having good drive's keeping the defense fresh and this is leading to better team play , this will only help come playoff time ! the running game is coming together also he has 2 good backs now they are quick to the hole and have good vision to make something out of nothing #22 , #14 , are not game breakers but they are very good in there own right and run hard i expect to hear lot from the esdk in the playoffs this is not the wolfpack they can win a few games against any team in the (rafl) so we shall see as it stands now long island will have 2 playoff teams and on very good team maybe left out ! at 3-2 the midpoint of the season they have had a a couple of tough losses to the tribe and the panther's
and maybe on the outside looking in come playoff time !

brooklyn bluedevils 28
lions 00

And so it continues the education of the lions coach's after a tough loss last week they comeback this week and get shutout the bluedevils are good but the coaching staff for the lions is showing no ability to adjust to what other teams are doing . it's really becoming tough for the players i know some of those guys from there time with the ravens and they are finding it tough to get up each week but they continue to show heart by playing with what they have ! they managed to move the ball a little but that wont help and at 0-4 on the season it only downhill from here , got to find a way to get that 1st one on the season and the count down has begun how long will it take for the lions to win there 1st game ? I mean that's really why the guys give up there summer time and push themselves to the limit is to see where you stand against other teams and right now they are not matching up !

Tribe 38
kings county blackhawks 00

And this year's surprise team is the tribe they have run passed and kicked themselves in to a tie for 1st in the l.i. division and i believe they are still the class of the division ! they are playing like a true team and really sticking together they boast one of the best defenses in the (rafl ) and may have the most reliable kicker in the whole league he is money from 45 yrds out and at this level that really can boot a teams playoff chances . coach khalid merritt has brought his slow and steady approach to the o and they have built a good stout o-line and some key additions at the skill positions and now you have a true team ! and man the d is fast and hits hard they have 3 shutouts this season and have shut out the so called best team on l.i. the esdk 15 -00 week one the rematch is coming coming up next week in northport and maybe the game of the week on the island !

Pnathers 12
bklynbuldawgs 06

What is in the water in suffolk i mean you have the esdk and then the pamthers with winning records ! Never would have seen this coming from the preseason they had but coach rey has worked hard and done a good recruiting job with a great back and good defense ball control is the key . if you can stop there ball control and keep this guy #5 off the field you give your team a chance to win , if not he is gonna kill you a true game breaker and homerun hitter at this level and how other teams are letting him run wild like this is beyond me . but they are doing a great job staying in the hunt and all teams are doing a great job making long island a true threat this yr in the rafl as it stands now we may have 3 teams in the playoffs and that would truly be a thing of joy for a 3 teams to get in , Long Island stand up !

Punishers 07
Generals 17

Fireworks from the 1st whistle , the punishers jumped out early with 7 play 54 yrd drive and score by Dennis woody who capped of a rushing td with a powerful run in which he broke 4 tackles and punished 3 other would be tacklers , his backfield mate is rason (lowrider) Burnett and all night long he was putting in his work load i mean the bone crushing blocks he was throwing lead the rushing attack to the tune of a td and 89 yrds , the offense looked good , the d line which was short suffered an injury to the freak and then the rushing lanes opened up for the generals i don't think the d line has ever played this short with injuries and guy having to work but you play with what you have ! we held the generals 4 field goals and gave up a late td with 4 seconds on the game clock to make the final score 17 -7 but the game was a dog fight and i hope we see them in a post season tourny . they had a huge following the home stand s were filled and that was great to get these young guys in a hostile enviorment and see what they have , the lack of a kicking showed a few times we were inside there 30 and if boots was there we score on some of those chances , all in all it was a great game to be part of and we learned a tough lesson have to play all 4 qtr's not 3 and when we have a team down go for the throat we will be looking for the kill next week 1st ever game at our new home Cantiague Rock rd park should be a good one against the ct ravens !

Week 3 a little closer but a win is a win !

L.I. panthers 14
Esdk 15

And did they play a great game or what ? The Esdk are starting to hit a stride this team has almost never seen before , the d is smothering opposing offense's to the point that some teams are starting to think twice about running the ball ! They have a new home in north port and a new winning attitude that may carry them to be the class of the (RAFL) long island division . As usual they played and aggressive hard hitting style of d that is starting to become a staple for them ! the d is led by mlb Joe galloogly or googs and he is a tough as nails and good against the run plays fast and hard and never quits , but this game the running really helped them out number #22 is the real deal fast and elusive and has good vision rushed for a td and 75 yrds but the defense sealed the deal closing the door on the panthers to secure the win ! That's 2 in a row now and they may be starting to separate themselves !!!!

L.I. tribe 9
seahawks 8

And this game was a defensive struggle also the seahawks scored early but in new tribe fashion they never quit and this kicker may kick them to a division chip if he keeps this up . his new nick name is money because he doesn't miss from inside the 40 and 3 times he burned the seahawks to win the game ! and the tribe defense is really starting to have a swag they believe they can win and that's half the battle they know they can stop anyone when they need to ! they continue to be stout and close the door when they have but the question remains can they do it for a full 10 games ? I think they can , and as it stands right now long island in the (RAFL) has 3 playoff teams and this may be an very interesting development because this was supposed to be a week division and this may be a a better division than even i thought !

L.I. lions bye

Week 2 in the books and change the way you do things !

ESDK 12
LIONS 00

With week 2 in the books looks like the esdk is not ready to give up just yet ! They were in attack mode from jump , they jumped all over the lions with an aggressive run stopping d and never letting up getting the shutout . After a tough lose in week one this was a good way to rebound they really needed this win to boost morale , and you'll say but its only week one but after all the hype for the season in the preseason and all the talking they needed to get off to a fast start . The qb#15 for esdk is hitting his stride and is a very good qb he reads the field well and moves well in and out of the pocket , the defense was the story stuffing the lions play after play props to them again this is the kind of effort that they must show night in and night out to really be a threat !

Panthers 23
Tribe 00

And the panthers are of to a fast start ! 2 weeks 2 wins and 2 shutouts , i don't know whats in the water out there in Suffolk but the panthers are starting to show a whole lot of people they may be for real . They are pitching shutouts on d and the offense is looking well balanced and tough to contend with right now they are the leaders of the (Rafl) long island division and man they look really good , the running back is for real and the qb is looking really good but the d has been stellar and if this trend keeps up week 3 the Esdk may have a huge war on there hands should be a hard hitting action packed game ! The coaching staff is doing a great job in game prep and that may very well be the key to their success they are very well prepared right now and the sky is the limit for them !

punishers next game august 1st flemington generals (Cfa) playoff team from 08 7-3 overall record should be a good game !

Week 1 of the regular season is in the books !!!!!!!

TRIBE 15
Esdk 00

players of the game for the Tribe the kicker and the defense for the shutout .

Upsets all over the island ! boy oh boy for a team to come in to the regular season on a bit of a low , loosing 4 out of 4 in the preseason and then to get shutout in the last one anyone would say that it does not look good for them but being who they are the esdk down played all of the loses and said its just the pre season , well the pre season sets the tone for the regular season ! and if there pre season is any indication it's going to be a long year for the esdk ! No one i spoke to thought they would win , the tribe came out and played a complete 60 min game the kicker was big for them guy has a boot , he was 3 for 3 and one was from 47 and would have been good from 52 , again for the 3rd game in row the tribe d was the story pitching a shutout 2 of the last 3 games , i don't care how much you move the ball if you don't score it does not matter ! the tribe are a feisty group stout and fast up front and they seem to like the system they play which helps a lot , on the offense Khalid has a few athletes to play with and he knows football so it is paying of early for them . The Esdk look like they have no clue over the last 4 games they have scored 12 points on offense and the d has not fared much better , they have scored 00 points in 2 of the last 4 and you really have to ask yourself is it the fact they have no coaching . i mean its always good to have an extra pair of eyes to let you know what is not working maybe its just to much to own, coach and play on the team , and then you have guys playing both ways, i like iron man football but guys are going to break down even the great players suffer from fatigue ! gotta get a coaching staff and let them handle game day and game prep and game plan its only week 1 in the rafl but cant let all the spring hype and preseason work go down the drain with another loosing season !

lions 16
panthers 18

players of the game - the panthers rb #5 simmons
and the defense for the grit to stop everything in the second half

The lions the qb ed dixon #16

Now i must say this you have to find a way to win a game where you lead 16-00 , there is no way even a 1st yr team should not give up 18 unanswered pts. you have to find a way to seal the deal it looks like it maybe a rough 1st season for coach brooks and his staff , they have lost a total of 4 games right now they are tied with esdk for loosing streaks both teams need to right the ship if long island football as a whole has a chance to put a stamp on this season . the lions jumped out the gate fast looking like the pitbulls of last yr ! then all of a sudden the wheels fell of the bus the panthers regrouped and made a great comeback the defense led the way stopping the lions at every turn and the offense followed suit scoring on running and passing plays , have to wonder if the coaching staff of the lions . #5 Simmons looks like the real deal he is silky fast and runs hard , but the d was the story to regroup and lead the charge like that takes grit and determination and that's what the panthers showed ! all in all it was a good opening week for the long island teams and they all have high hopes for the season and i for one would like to see all the teams make the playoffs but we will see , lots of fast paced hard hitting action out there good to see have a greatday untill next week !

punishers next game will vs the flemington generals in flemington nj the generals play in cfa and were the leading defense of that league last season ans a playoff team should be a good matchup !

And Long Island continues to Struggle

It's tough to sit here and write this page this week , with only 3 of the five teams from long island in action and 2 of them loose and 2 get zipped !

Lions 00
bulldogs 08

First we have the long island lions with every passing week this young team gets closer and closer to being a finished and very good product . Again they fell short but not for a lack of good old fashioned defense , the offense again this week seemed to stuck ! the run game never really got going and the passing game only had a few plays to move the ball . this lack of offensive game calling rest's in the hands of the oc and hc they have got to stick to a plan and learn to call plays to set things up ! they look really reliant to let the d play 58 of the 60 mins and at this level that can not happen . injuries and fatigue will begin to play a factor and that can cause whole seasons to go down the drain !

esdk 00
nj lions 27

esdk looked lost, with the lions looking for the kill in a big way the lions were a playoff team in the R.A.F.L last season and whew ! did it show running and passing all night and then to get the shutout i mean they took the game into control early and never quit , on the other hand esdk has lost 5 in row now and you have to wonder is it the lack of coaching or game planning or just a plain lack of skill position players ? I mean they have some talented guys in #11 , and #2 but after that the it really becomes dry as far as talent #2 plays both sides of the ball and you really have to wonder if it's starting to take a toll on him .

Tribe 09
HV cowboys 06

And i must 1st say congrats to Khalid Merritt and the rest of the tribe coaching staff on a job well done . getting that first win this early in the season ! and maybe they can make some noise this season in the R.A.F.L long island division the game was sloppy and the tribe d held solid ! they are a stout and fast bunch but they cant be on the field all game and expect to win that's a formula for a bad season ! All in all i will say the tide has changed so fast here on the island some teams got out the gate fast, and some started slow , some have fallen flat on there faces but the trend has got to change , i mean the way it looks now none of the l.i. teams will make the playoffs and that could hurt ! so its now or never boys gotta put up or shut up !

Better late than never

This week i will speak with regard to the bodies that control minor league football , the leagues , but 1st there was a game this week the only game that took place your Long Island lions took on the wood bridge bulldogs out in jersey .

bulldogs 08
lions 00

the lions defense is really starting took cook that's the 2nd game in a row at 2 tds or less and they look like they may be starting to gell , but you cant say the same for the offense, again they managed to not support the d , Travis Jones looked like all star material again with some nice plays on d , but they may have a player in #16 Eddie Dixon boy has some hands on him ! the mark of this team is not in wins and losses they know its pre season , but what i like most is the fight they have in them they just keep coming and that is a quality that can not be taught .
you either have heart or you don't ! and this team has heart ! the offense just looks like they are stuck i mean i know #3 b ron was slowed this pre season , but the other guys have to step up right ? the season is less than 3 weeks away got to right the ship or they may sink ! but i think they may have a break through b ron is back and looks like his game breaking self !

Now on to the leagues , the r.a.f.l. has the right idea and may be the best competition wise in the north east ! turkel and mr mcgill do a great job getting good teams and that's cool , but how does the commish end up coaching the best team from 2008 the Brooklyn mariners ! but this is old news and the other owners voted on it so i guess its a done deal .they had a good event last week the rafl skills challenge and jamboree ! then we have the e.f.a. top 5 teams in this league can compete with any in the north east but that's all they have after that its a toss up to see who will win 1 first ! but the league is only as strong as its teams and the leadership of the efa is one billy badson he has a great football mind ,and is one of the winning est coaches ever in this area and has been in efa for 15 yrs , but at the same time you cant continue to let a week head let the body fall . i fear this may happen if something is not done and fast with the tumultuous week we in the efa just had i hope we can turn it around ! Then we move to what i think is the best run league in the north east they play fall ball and like avis they try harder THE BNEFF , a website that is always up to date , and they promote the teams and the players and they work hand in hand Dexter Girven and AL Alston do a great job setting the bar , now some say the competition is not as good but i think they are following there plan to a t and it will pay off big in a few days !!!!

A great day of football and youth soccer in between !!!!

Hello football fans , on sun. June 7th at Roosevelt high school there was some great football played by all 4 teams . The NassauPunishers vs The Esdk and then you had the Roosevelt youth soccer team play a game , Then the Long Island Lions did battle with the Bklyn Seminoles !

Esdk 06
Nassaupunishers 19

1st game punishers vs esdk -This game started of slow both teams went 3 and out on there 1st series , Then the fireworks started in the form of #9 Travis jynx 2 td catches for the game and 3 on the yr ! 1 in the 1st quarter and one in the 3rd . on one he caught a 5 yrd dump from mike leccesse and then turned and left 2 defenders in the dust , but i think the story of this game for the punishers was the o-line and there flawless pass blocking all day !!!!! in football it has to start
at the line of scrimmage and they gave up 0 sacks today, and that led to a break out game for rookie qb Steve Newman #15 and this guy in warm ups was looking intense he had a full sweat going in walk through and it really payed of , on 2 huge td throws one was a catch and run by kelvin lett#25 that's 5 td catches in 3 games and the other was #9 no name needed ! coach Jim said "i thought Newman played his best game so far and i have to use him more. i like having 2 good qbs this is a good problem for me" having 2 quality qbs is great and the competition at this point is wide open !

The defense was stout as usual giving up some big 3rd down plays , but making the big play when it mattered the most . stalling the esdk offense all day was #46 mitchell green or all , except for one great throw and catch by who else #11 divine Jackson ! he is as advertised , the d was led by mlb #1 mike toney 4 tckls 1int 1blckfg and a ff he had a good day when asked if he felt he played good he said " i will play better coach "look out for this guy in the future he is a big part of our d . overall the d really got after the qb in the second half coach Dave turned the dogs loose and it showed in the stat line 3 sacks 4 ints and 2 ff Good day for the punisher d !This is truly not the wolfpack anymore Shawn Spencer is tireless for his guys constantly trying to recruit and it showed #15, #1, #11,#2, and the rb # 24 all had big plays when they needed ! play after play they kept coming and played to the last whistle , in yrs past after you scored on them they just quit , not today and they will be the class of the long island division in the r.a.f.l. , they have lost 4 in a row but they are still my pick to win there division and they have some great talent over there , if they had some coaches they might have won this game but that's the way the cookie crumbles in minor league football you go with what you got period !!!!!!!!!!

after this game there was a youth soccer game roosevelt won 3 -1

Then game 2 The LongIsland lions vs The Bklyn Seminoles

Seminoles 14
lions 08

This game was fast and hard hitting i mean the lbs for the seminoles were flying all over the field and were pitching a shutout in to the fourth , and #2 g-bloc is as advertised he is hell ! trying to make plays with his feet and his arm and then he even plays d he is an athlete !!!!! the noles opened the scoring early on 2 great plays of the catch and run variety and it stayed 14-00 until 3 min into the 4th , ray waiters #33 for the lions was all over the field him and #1 the mlb from the lions looked like a young ray lewis and chris mccallister ! i mean they were hitting everything that moved !!!!!! and they only gave up 14 pts of broken plays were the qb broke containment , but the lions offense still looked lost they are way too small in the o-line and they were getting out physicaled all day ! they need to figure out if they are a running team or a passing team . don bonccarsa kicked very well today for the lions with some good punts but the d was the story they never quit and thats what you want to build on it is a work in progress but they have some players overthere and will right the ship ! remember this is pre season so it was good to get work in , But also you play TO WIN THE GAMES ! as players and coaches dont let the competitive nature get lost in oh we only need work , or its just pre season excuse thats not how the attitude of a CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL team is built . gotta change the culture here on the island and the time is now ! have a great week ! there will be game updates on fri so stay tuned !!!

State of semi-pro football on long island

Good afternoon long island football fans, this month we will be examining the state of semipro football on long island , and the 5 teams that currently exists !

1st up we have the long island lions this is a new team but has a old flavor , formerly the pitbulls in 3 season in the rafl had some great accomplishments 3 playoff appearances 9-1 regular season , but the last 2 seasons they seemed to fizzle come playoff time ! now with the off season done and camps open coaching and front office changes along with 3 huge player losses , the starting qb and 2 rcvr from last season both big game threats the search is on for a new receiving core and deep threat ! 2 weeks ago they took on the Nassau punishers and were pasted 30-6 at evander childs highschool in the Bronx . It looked like they had a whole new squad missing 3 top players from offense at the skill positions and then there starting mlb from last season dewhite hines (retirement)it looked like they were not prepared . they got out coached and out physicaled all day by the punishers now they will be going to jersey to take on the bulldogs and looking for some get back ! its only pre season but what a way to start it !

Next up we have the empire state demon knights after many losing seasons Shawn Spencer has taken the bull by the horn they jumped into the Grid iron elite for the second yr hoping to make some noise and they did just that ! they boast the tourny mvp in #11 divine Jackson , and the second best defense in the tourny ! led by #2 Michael Ramos at corner . they will be looking to show all in the semi-pro world that they belong and on June 7th they look to make a huge statement by beating the upstart nassaupunishers/ long island ravens we will get to them in a second , they have never beaten the ravens and lost to them in close game last season in the 1st grid iron tourny 28-23 in a hotly contested and well played championship game ! they also would like to toss there hat in the ring for who is truly long islands best semi pro team ! stay tuned for game coverage !

next up we have the long island tribe the biggest move that i know of from this franchise to date is that they signed the former pitbull hc now oc Khalid Merritt and they seem to have a new direction on offense but after there game against the brooklyn bulldawgs a 6-0 loss they need to regroup! with the return of a decent core on d they will be looking to rebound they will be taking the field again in the ct bearcats jamboree good luck !

next we have the long island panthers and we just went from bad to worse they seem to be content with just being a team that plays and that's fine ,but i know the players over there want more and it ownerships job to make it happen ! a tough pre season schedule competing in the grid iron elite tourny for the second yr and not winning a game this yr and then to get kicked out of the tourny for fighting they need a direction , and then they get man handled on there field by the punishers 34-00 hope they can right the ship or its lights out ! some may disagree with my views on the last 2 teams but if you truly follow these 2 teams as i do they just have to get it right and the time is now !

next we have the nassau punishers a new product with old flavor also , formerly the long island ravens who only lost 1 game to any long island team with Coach Jim back for another run for the ring ! they return a strong core group in the secondary led by #4 troy (troub ) golding leading the way he is shut down when on his game, and Jermaine Wilson the captain he is a little undersized but makes some of the most spectacular plays for a corner ,then there is mr everything #9 Travis jinx he is all world and a leader in many ways . his partner is alex azure #7 the silent assassin ,just go to the http://www.efafootballleague.com/ and , click on web tv ravens vs irvington knights , first clip enough said ! then there is #35 the game changer shyne / kyle Anderson, why this man is not in a camp is beyond me but hey we are glad to have him at lb ! this core on d is truly a thing to watch , the offense has returning rb #8 Daryl mclintic and he is a monster , and 2 new additions Steve Newman at qb and kevin (they let the cat out the bag) lett , oh my god 2 games and he already leads the team in tds with 4 and yrds 200 he is a beast and only getting better, i will give a breakdown of the leagues these teams compete in next week ta ta for now !
